Slough Grammar School for Boys 1972 Senior Prefects Photographs

The photographs were taken in the Senior Prefects Common Room in Summer 1972 on behalf of Colin Cairns (SGS1965-72) - Ref. CRC C01 and C02. Colin writes:
"The Senior Prefects Common Room was located above the boiler room and was stiflingly hot all year round. (Directions: From the staff room, head west towards the Physics labs. Halfway along the corridor, turn right into a short passageway. Go past the Caretaker's Room on the right and up a short flight of stairs.) The room featured a full-size table tennis table, a kettle, a radio, and an old television that didn't work properly. The few inherited decorations included a number of superfluous traffic signs (and a street name plate for Horse Ferry Road?) and some posters. Mugs of revolting black coffee were consumed. Each Senior Prefect had a cubby hole for their books - mine is visible on the top-right of the storage unit, with an enamelled mug. Senior Prefects wore a gold cord on the top of their breast pocket, and their responsibilities included the conducting of detentions."
"At that time, the Sixth Form Common Room was in the area on the other side of the corridor - which had previously been a large cloakroom. It had a full-size, slate-bed, billiards table which I understand had been given by Slough Fire Station in 1970/71. Unfortunately the baize was damaged by careless play after a couple of years and the table fell into disuse."
